Pet Registration
On September 5, 2023, Seabrook City Council passed an amendment to City Ordinance 2023-22 to require microchipping of all equine, ferrets, dogs, and cats over 4 months of age in the City of Seabrook.
Registering Your Pet
City of Seabrook residents are required to register their pet(s) with Animal Control. This requirement is necessary to ensure that lost pets can be returned to their owners as quickly as possible.
Registration Requirements
To register your pet(s), you must submit the following documents to the Seabrook Animal Control & Adoption Center:
- Current rabies vaccination certificate
- Proof of spay/neuter (if applicable)
- Proof of registered microchip
- Not sure if your pet's microchip is registered? Use the AAHA's Microchip Registry Lookup to find out.
Microchipping Your Pet
The City of Seabrook now offers microchipping services to pet owners at the animal shelter facility by appointment only.
- The cost for microchipping services is $10.00 per animal.
- To schedule an appointment, please call (281) 291-5644 or email us.
- Appointments are available between the hours of 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Already Microchipped?
If your pet is already microchipped, please bring your pet's microchip registration documentation to the Seabrook Animal Control & Adoption Center or email it to us within 5 business days of implantation.
- What brand of microchips does Seabrook Animal Control use?
-
The Seabrook Animal Control & Adoption Center uses DATAMARS microchips.
- Is microchipping painful for my pet?
-
Microchip implantation is no more painful to pets than a flu shot is to a human. A Datamars PetLink microchip is as small and thin as a grain of rice and is easily implanted by trained staff.
- Is the microchip like a GPS?
-
No. Microchips cannot be used as tracking devices. They are a form of identification that can be checked with a microchip scanner by a veterinarian or shelter organization.
- How can I update my pet's information?
-
Please call or email the Seabrook Animal Shelter for assistance with updating your pet's microchip information.
