[ARCHIVED] Harvey upgraded to a Hurricane

The National Hurricane Center upgraded Harvey to a hurricane at approximately 12:30 p.m. today, August 24, 2017. The Seabrook Office of Emergency Management along with essential city personnel have been closely monitoring and will continue to monitor the storm.

The city's public works department is preparing for the potential impact of Harvey by securing all city facilities, removing potential hazards from road ways and public spaces and clearing drainage systems that may be blocked.

Police and fire personnel are also prepared to respond to calls that they may receive during the storm. The Seabrook Volunteer Fire Department is equipped to respond to incidents that may occur due to flooding. In the event of an emergency always call 9-1-1.

The Office of Communication has created a dedicated webpage on the city's website for Harvey updates that may impact Seabrook residents and businesses. The page is accessible by clicking the Alert tab at the top of any page but may also be accessed directly by visiting seabrooktx.gov/alertcenter.

Seabrook currently remains under a Tropical Storm Warning and a Storm Surge Watch. The Seabrook Office of Emergency Managment will receive another storm update from the National Weather Service at 4:15 p.m. this afternoon.
