[ARCHIVED] Halloween Safety

Trick or Treat Safety Tips

Halloween is one of the most exciting nights of the year in Seabrook, bringing out an array of fun costumes, festive decorations, and of course, lots of candy! While we want everyone to have a great time, we also want to make sure you and your family stay safe. Here are some essential tips from the Seabrook Police Department to keep Halloween safe and enjoyable for everyone:

Travel in Groups for a Safer Halloween

Trick-or-treating is more fun with friends, and it’s safer too! Young children should always be accompanied by a trusted adult, and it’s best to stay in familiar, well-lit neighborhoods. For older kids who are heading out on their own, traveling in groups is a great way to enjoy the night safely. Not only does it reduce the chances of anyone getting lost, but groups are also more visible to drivers.

Make Sure You’re Seen

Since Halloween often means walking around after dark, visibility is key. Consider adding reflective tape to costumes, carrying glow sticks, or using a flashlight to help you stand out. These simple additions can make a huge difference when it comes to making sure drivers see you in low-light areas.

Stay Alert and Cross Safely

Trick-or-treaters, stay aware of your surroundings—especially when crossing streets! Always cross at designated crosswalks or street corners, and avoid running into the street unexpectedly. For drivers, be mindful that little ghouls and goblins will be out and about, so please slow down in residential areas and keep an eye out for trick-or-treaters crossing the road.

Inspect Treats at Home

It’s always a good idea to wait until you’re home to dig into the candy haul. Parents, take a moment to inspect all treats before letting your kids enjoy them. Look for any unusual packaging or open wrappers, and make sure anything that looks suspicious is thrown away. This step adds an extra layer of safety to your Halloween evening.

Find Seabrook Officers for Extra Fun!

Keep an eye out for Seabrook Police Officers in the community tonight. If you spot an officer, don’t be shy; say hello, and you might just score a special Halloween treat!

Seabrook PD is committed to helping everyone have a fantastic Halloween filled with excitement and plenty of treats. Let’s work together to keep the evening safe and full of festive spirit. Have fun, Seabrook, and have a spooktacular Halloween!
