Weather permitting, there will be several lane closures on SH 146 over the next week, including a traffic shift and the removal of the center turn lane between NASA Parkway and the Seabrook-Kemah Bridge. Please review the following information in its entirety.
1. The SH146 southbound connector ramp to 10th Street / Shipyard Drive / Waterfront will be fully closed during night shifts beginning 5/14/19 and continuing for approximately two weeks, from 9:00pm to 5:00am each night. This work will not occur on Friday or Saturday nights. This closure is to create a work zone for asbestos abatement. Message boards will be placed to assist with directing traffic.
a) Traffic on SH146 SB trying to get to 10th Street / Shipyard Drive on the east side of the bridge will be directed eastbound on 2nd Street (Main Street) in Seabrook, then right on Todville Road.
b) Traffic on 10th Street / Shipyard Drive on the east side of the bridge trying to get to SH146 SB or the Seabrook Marina and Shipyard will be directed north on Todville Road, then turn left on 2nd Street (Main Street) in Seabrook, then left at SH146.
2. The inside lane (#1 lane) of SH146 northbound between 6th Street in Kemah and Hardesty Avenue in Seabrook will be closed during the night shift of Thursday 5/13/19, from 9:00pm to 5:00am. This closure is to create a work zone concrete barrier and reflector maintenance. The outside lane will remain open, so no detour is needed. This closure will be coordinated with Closure #4 (below).
3. The outside lane (#2 lane) of SH146 southbound between 4th Street in Kemah (Kemah U-turn) and FM2094 will be closed during the day shift shifts of 5/9/19, 5/10/19, and 5/13/19, from 9:00am to 3:00pm each day. This closure is to create a work zone underground utility exploration. The inside lane will remain open, so no detour is needed.
4. There will be alternating lane closures on SH146 northbound and southbound in Seabrook, between Shipyard Drive and NASA Road 1 during the night shifts of 5/13/19, 5/14/19, and 5/15/19, from 9:00pm to 5:00am each night. At least one lane will be maintained in each direction during these closures, so no detour is needed.
a) This closure is for a traffic shift: Striping and low profile concrete barriers will be placed to shift traffic to the west. This will eliminate the center median lane south of 4th Street. The southbound left turn lane to 4th Street and the northbound left turn lane to NASA Road 1 will be maintained. Low profile concrete barriers will be placed along the east edge of SH146 in this area to create a work zone for drainage and roadway expansion. The northbound right turn to Hardesty Avenue will be blocked by low profile concrete barriers, but no other side streets will be blocked.
These closures are all subject to change if needed due to weather. Uniformed Police Officers will be onsite to assist with the closures if needed. The closures have been entered in the TxDOT PIO system. We will notify you of any changes or cancellations.
